Dr. Campbell grew up in Junction, Texas. He received a bachelor’s degree in Biology at Texas A&M University. After receiving his M.D. degree at the University of Texas at Houston, he undertook residency training in anatomic and clinical pathology at the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas with special emphasis on hematopathology and genitourinary pathology and is board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. He then entered private practice with Valley Pathology Associates in Roanoke, Virginia, where he remained for eight years prior to joining Spartanburg Pathology Consultants in April 2006. During that time he served in multiple roles including laboratory Medical Director of the seven hospital system, Medical Director for histology, President of Dominion Pathology Associates, President of the Roanoke Valley Academy of Medicine, President of the Virginia Society for Pathology, 2nd Vice President for the Medical Society of Virginia, and numerous other activities including involvement in the American Medical Association and College of American Pathologists.
