Dr. Pinkston arrived at Celligent Diagnostics LLC (Carolinas Pathology Group) by way of Montgomery, Alabama. He received his bachelor’s degree in Biology at Middle Tennessee State University and his M.D. degree from University of Tennessee College of Medicine followed by residency training in anatomic and clinical pathology at University of Tennessee/ City of Memphis Hospitals. This was followed by a surgical pathology fellowship at M. D. Anderson Cancer Center.

Dr. Pinkston served as laboratory medical director at Baptist Medical Center South-Montgomery, which was associated with University of Alabama Birmingham Internal Medicine Residency and Family Practice Residency. He was actively involved in lab management decisions such as streamlining the laboratory, improving efficiency, cost reductions, test selection, medical staff and resident education. In addition, he established a Transfusion Committee, participated in medical staff activities/committees, and served as Medical Director of BMCS Medical Technology School. His current interests include transfusion medicine, general surgical pathology and head and neck pathology.
