A trained cytotechnologist, Ms. Abercrombie has more than 15 years of experience in operational management of clinical pathology labs. Prior to joining Celligent Diagnostics and Carolinas Pathology Group in 2002, she held positions including Section Head of the Cytology Department at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe, Louisiana where she helped facilitate the growth of fine needle aspiration and bronchoscopy procedures. She has also served as Cytology Director of Pathology and Cytology Laboratories in Lexington, Kentucky. In 1991, Ms. Abercrombie earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Systems from High Point University and subsequently assumed the position of Pathology Coordinator for High Point Regional Health Systems. In this role, she was instrumental in implementing Cortex, an anatomic pathology computer system. In 1995, Ms. Abercrombie was named Clinical Director of Piedmont Pathology in Hickory where she was responsible for lab relocation, equipment and programming, and other operational responsibilities. Today, she works directly with physicians, pathologists and laboratory staff on operational processes.
